Fri som i frihed
Free Software Foundation Europe (FSFE) er en almennyttig
organisation (nonprofit), samt i nogle lande en velgørende
organisation, helliget formål at fri software. FSFE
fastholder, at frihederne til at anvende, undersøge, dele og
forbedre software er af afgørende betydning for at sikre
ligeværdig deltagelse og støtte af softwarefrihed i politik, jura
og samfundet generelt. Vi fremmer også udviklingen af
teknologier, så som styresystemet GNU/Linux, der giver disse
friheder til alle deltagere i det digitale samfund.
FSFE's arbejde er gjort muligt takket være mange individuelle
bidrag, særligt Fellowship of
FSFE. En måde at bidrage på, er at blive medlem nu samt
opfordre andre til at gøre det samme.
FSFE's Fellows have elected their second
representative to the organisation's governing body, the
General Assembly. Julia Klein will join Torsten Grote in FSFE's
strategic decision making body to speak for the Fellows for the next
two years.
Will you be able to read your documents 20 years from now? Every day,
millions of computer users like you edit text and spreadsheets, take
pictures and record audio and video. What if you couldn't read your
private letters anymore, or even open that album with pictures from your
honeymoon? What if you couldn't exchange those files with friends, because
the software used by each one of you can't talk to each other? To help you
make your documents future-proof, we celebrate Document Freedom Day on
March 31.
FSFE welcomes the arrival of greater competition in the web browser
market. From today, Microsoft has to offer Windows users in Europe the
possibility to choose among different browsers. This step puts into
practice the company's settlement with the European Commission from
December 2009. The Free Software Foundation Europe was an active
participant in the Commission's investigation.
This year on Valentine's Day, FSFE calls on Free Software users
everywhere to show their love for Free Software. Behind every Free
Software initiative and organisation there are real, hard-working
people.
In January, FSFE was awarded the Theodor Heuss Medal as a "trendsetting
organisation". This recognition for the hard work of the past years was a
good start into the new year.
Fellowship meeting in Graz, Austria

This time, the Graz Fellowship meeting will be in
Realraum, located in the Jakoministraße 16, 8010 Graz.
We'll be there from 19:00. As usual, this invitation is for
everyone interested in the FSFE or Free Software. We're
looking forward to seeing you there!
Freedom Task Force ELN Workshop, Amsterdam, Netherlands

The
Freedom Task Force, FSFE's legal and licensing department, will hold the third
European Licensing and Legal Workshop on the 8th and 9th of April 2010 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. This conference will provide legal experts a forum for discussions on supply chain management, compliance procedures, licence management and other legal issues related to the growth of the European Free Software market.
There is limited space available at the event and attendance for non-network members is by invitation only.

A Fellowship meeting takes place on 20 May 2010 in Zurich. We meet at
18:30 in the "Pausenraum" of the "Spielwerkstatt Murmel", Kanonengasse
16, first floor (Zeughaus 5, old barracks in Zurich's city center,
upstairs, down the corridor until the end). As usual, this invitation is
for everyone interested in the FSFE or Free Software. We're looking
